Booth House - Shelter Cook
The Cook position will perform all duties on site and will be working alone and will be responsible for all meal planning and distribution of meals to the Shelter residents. The person will report to the Regional Food Service Director or the Program Administrator in his absence.
Position Summary: This position plans and prepares all of the meals for the Alton Booth House residents to include appropriate preparation and storage for meals on the weekends. The following is a brief summary of the duties that the Shelter Cook will be performing.
1. Prepare food according to the standardized menu set forth by the Food Service Director.
2. Maintain inventory listing of food stock and kitchen supplies.
3. Communicate with Food Service Director to order food/supplies to replenish stock inventory.
4. Lift and carry cooking materials and supplies from Pantry area to kitchen area.
5. Regularly clean kitchen, utensils, refrigerator/walk-in refrigerator and dining areas to achieve pleasant, safe, and sanitary conditions daily.
6. Supervise clients’ clean-up of dining area after meals.
7. Follow all safety and health regulations/codes regarding food preparation.
8. Ability to operate necessary kitchen equipment for food preparation & clean-up.
9. Communicate with Lead Shelter Monitor regarding resident count for meals and when clients will be eating offsite
10. Work with the Program Administrator and Corp Officers in addressing any issues within the kitchen and/or dining areas.
11. Maintain a positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a manner that fosters good relationships with clients, co-workers and supervisors.
1st Shift 10am to 6pm Monday through Friday
Saturday or Sunday as needed per Administrator
