Hannibal Family Services and Store - Hannibal Donation Sorter and Organizer

POSITION TITLE:  Hannibal Family Services/Store Volunteer                                                                  

LOCATION:  200 Steamboat Bend Shopping Center, Hannibal, MO

TIME COMMITMENT:  Flexible hours; minimum 3-hour shifts preferred             

 

Position Summary:  As a volunteer at The Salvation Army Family Services/Store, you will play a crucial role in helping to support our mission by assisting with the daily operations. Your efforts will help ensure that our store and social services remain an inviting place for our customers while supporting our community programs.

 

Key Responsibilities: 

 

Family Store:

    • Inspect and categorize donated items, ensuring they meet our quality standards.
    • Sort items into appropriate categories (e.g., clothing, books, household goods).
    • Organize and restock shelves with donated items.
    • Maintain cleanliness and organization of shelves and displays.
    • Create and maintain attractive merchandise displays to enhance the shopping experience.
    • Perform light cleaning tasks to ensure the store is tidy and presentable.
    • Clean and organize display areas and storage spaces as needed.

 

Food Pantry Assistance:

    • Organize and distribute food items.
    • Assist with restocking and inventory of food pantry items.
    • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the food pantry.

 

Qualifications: 

  • No prior experience necessary; training will be provided.
  • Friendly and positive attitude.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and lift moderate weights (up to 25lbs).
  • Reliable and punctual.
