Special Events - Special Events
Duties:The Utility Exploration Center has a wide range of special events throughout the year that attract 500-3000 attendees to each event. At our free family events you might find us tossing bean bags of the 3 Ps (pee, poo, paper) into the toilet, orchestrating a garbage truck parade, creating a life size creek scene or talking to a robot trash can. We design these fun-filled events to educate the public on environmental conservation issues and solutions our Utilities work on every day. Volunteers get to assist with every aspect of these events - event preparation, setup, teardown and running activities on event day. Without our volunteers’ support, we would not be able to host events of this size for our community. Our annual special events include: Bird and Bug Bonanza (February), Big Trucks Summer (July), Curby’s Waste-a-Palooza (August) and Count Watts’ Spooktacular (October). Volunteer for one event or join us for all of them!
Qualifications required– Must enjoy people interaction, be enthusiastic and motivated; able to sustain long periods of standing. Volunteers must be 14 years of age or older.
*Please note all City of Roseville Volunteers must complete a live scan fingerprint, which requires a valid government issued ID card. The City of Roseville covers the cost for all live scans.
Schedule Summary –
Shifts for special events vary from weekday mornings and Saturdays from 9am-3pm
Bird and Bug Bonanza (9am– 3pm, first Saturday in February)
Big Trucks Summer (9am – noon, once a week in July)
Curby’s Waste-a-Palooza (9am– 3pm, last Saturday in August)
Count Watts’ Spooktacular (9am – 3pm, last Saturday in October)
