POSITION TITLE:         Volunteer After School Support

                                       

SCHEDULE:                   Monday – Thursday, 2pm – 430pm

 

LOCATION:                   Unit 5 – 32700 George Ferguson Way

 

REPORTS TO:               Program Facilitator

POSITION SUMMARY

Wonderful opportunity for a university student who is in social work, education, child & youth care, or a related field.

This volunteer position requires you to work with newcomer children aged 6-10 in multiple fields such as: social-emotional development, cultural sharing, literacy, and physical activities. The time commitment is 1 shift per week, with each shift running approximately 2 and a half hours. We ask that volunteers please commit to volunteering for the program for at least six months.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  • Aiding in facilitating activities and engaging students
  • Using a trauma informed approach

QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Certification:

  • Criminal Record Check

Experience:

  • Knowledge of working with children

Knowledge and Skill Set

  • Speaking a second language is an asset but not mandatory (Arabic, Dari, Punjabi, Ukrainian, French, Spanish)

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Medium to fast paced environment
  • Occasionally outdoors for recreational component of the program
