POSITION TITLE: Seniors Application Assistance Volunteers
SCHEDULE: 5 hours/week
LOCATION: Senior Service Department, 2420 Montrose Ave
REPORTS TO: Seniors Services Navigator & Peer Support Worker/Seniors Services Supervisor
POSITION SUMMARY
The Seniors application assistance volunteers will support in completing applications such as CPP, OAS, SAFER, income-tax (during tax season), etc.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Supporting seniors in filling out forms as applicable
- Connecting low-income and financially vulnerable seniors to government benefits, local supports, and tax support during tax season.
- Attend information sessions as needed
- Creating opportunities for seniors to connect with their peers through social events and activities.
- Keeping detailed records of the support provided to each senior to track progress and outcomes.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Certification:
- Basic computer proficiency preferred
Knowledge and Skill Set
- Proficient in English. It will be an asset if you are bilingual.
- We encourage volunteers with significant life experience to apply, as their insights and understanding application processes can greatly benefit the seniors we support
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Criminal Record Check required
- Availability: 5 hours/one day per week. Commitment of minimum 6 months required
