POSITION TITLE:              Volunteer Driver

 

SCHEDULE:                        Shifts available Monday – Thursday, 9am to 1130am

                                     

LOCATION:                        2420 Montrose Avenue

                                          

REPORTS TO:                    Program Coordinator

 

POSITION SUMMARY

The Meals on Wheels Volunteer Driver plays a crucial role in delivering fresh and frozen nutritious meals to individuals who are unable to shop or prepare meals for themselves, thereby supporting them to maintain their independence at home. This volunteer position requires a minimal commitment of approximately 2 hours per week.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

·       Deliver fresh and frozen healthy meals to individual Meals on Wheels clients within designated areas: Central Abbotsford, West Abbotsford (Boundary - Lefeuvre), East Abbotsford (Sumas), South Abbotsford, and North (Boundary - Townline Road).

·       Ensure punctuality and reliability in picking up and delivering meals at the scheduled time.

·       Maintain client confidentiality at all times.

·       Review and adhere to the Archway policies.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

 

·       Possession of a valid Class 5 driver’s license and a safe driving record (ICBC driver's abstract required, no cost).

·       No health conditions that may impair the ability to drive safely (e.g., impaired vision, hearing, perception, or certain medications).

·       Understanding of some limitations experienced by seniors, including mobility issues and sensory impairments.

·       Successful completion of a free Criminal Record Check (required for working with Vulnerable adults).

 

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Drivers should ideally have access to a mobile phone.
