Extreme Weather Response Shelter - Shelter Transportation Volunteer

PROGRAM NAME:           Emergency Weather Response Shelter


POSITION TITLE:               Shelter Transportation Volunteer


SCHEDULE:                         8pm-10pm, Thursdays and Sundays needed most


REPORTS TO:                     Program Coordinator


To provide safe transportation for street entrenched individuals to Emergency Weather Response (EWR) Shelter.


  • Providing only a level of assistance you are comfortable with to individuals of varying abilities
  • Driving defensively and responsibly, obeying all traffic and seat belt laws
  • Reporting any incidents and emergencies immediately to Program Coordinator
  • Keeping accurate records and submitting required documents/materials to Program Coordinator
  • Treating all clients and colleagues with dignity and respect


Education and Certification:

  • Criminal Record Check
  • Valid basic first aid
  • Valid class 5 or enhanced driver’s license
  • Hold a safe driving record

Knowledge and Skill Set

  • Able to drive without distractions (use of cellphone, eating while driving, etc.)
  • Good physical and mental health
