👉🏼 Purpose of the Role:
This volunteer role will help to assist clients to engage in daily activities
and social interactions that foster enjoyment and a sense of belonging

👉🏼 Short Description:
This role helps to facilitate daily living and leisure activities, encouraging
participation and enhancing the overall experience of the Respite Centre
clients. Volunteers assist the team to support clients with various in-centre
activities and may also attend day trips out and about in the community.
👉🏼 Working Environment:
Coomera Respite Care Centre is designed to provide clients with a safe,
welcoming and comfortable experience. The environment is relaxed but structured,
with a focus on providing meaningful daily activities and social engagement. You
will be supported by other volunteers and a team of trained staff that value
collaboration, respect and the well-being of every client.
👉🏼 Tasks involved include:
- Chatting with clients and actively listening to their stories
- Encouraging social interactions and participation in group activities
- Supporting clients to take part in recreational activities - board games, trivia quizzes, bingo,
music and singing
- Setting up and tidying activity spaces
- Facilitating small group discussions and recreational games
- Assist with serving morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea
👉🏼 Skills Required:
Ability to engage with frail aged and elderly people, some who may experience
dementia, in ways which are respectful and courteous empathetic, patient and
understanding friendly, approachable good listening skills and clear speaking
voice

4:00pm as the buses leave early and do not return to the centre until mid afternoon
