📃 This volunteer opportunity will help to assist the Lifestyle/Diversional Therapy Team to ensure every day is an opportunity for the people in our care to life their best life while participating in various social and recreational activities.
Volunteers can undertake one or a combination of both roles:
Friendly Visitors - these volunteers visit residents who have been identified as being at risk of social isolation. Volunteers can also be matched to residents based on common interests, hobbies, life experiences, culture and language. Friendly Visitors encourage residents to make social connections with their peers, may go for walks together around the gardens, share a cuppa over light conversation and build genuine friendships.
Lifestyle Support Volunteers - these Volunteers assist the Lifestyle/Diversional Therapy team to run various social and recreational group activities for residents. Activities take part in the mornings between 9am and 11.30am and can be in-centre or out and about in the local community. In-centre activities may include singing and concerts, bingo, light exercise programs, indoor bowls, puzzles, card and board games, art and craft. Community Venues can include shopping excursions, local tourist attractions, cafes, parks, picnics, events etc.

✅ What you’ll be doing: ▪️ One fully onboarded, Volunteers sit under the day to day supervision of the Lifestyle or Diversional Therapy/Lifestyle Team

☑️ Requirements of this role include: ▪️ No previous experience in Aged Care or related fields is required. ▪️ Applicants should demonstrate the ability to connect with frail aged and elderly people, some who experience dementia, in ways which are respectful and empathetic. ▪️ An initial interview following application will be conducted by the Volunteer Coordinator. A subsequent meet and greet on site with the Diversional Therapist/Lifestyle Coordinator will then be organised. ▪️ A current police check (less than 3 months) and a NDIS check is essential prior to commencement. The Volunteer Coordinator will assist applicants with checks which are free to volunteers. ▪️ Uniting Care Orientation Training is mandatory prior to commencement and will be delivered by the Volunteer Coordinator either online or face-to-face.
