This volunteer opportunity will help to Make a meaningful difference by engaging with clients and contributing to the diversity of a newly developed mobile respite program
This unique volunteer opportunity will assist clients in the Lowood area to live life in all its fullness by engaging clients in a mobile respite program.
Unable to utilise the space that clients would normally visit due to COVID restrictions, a mobile respite program has been developed utilising a BlueCare bus to visit various locations and provide a range of activities.
The social interaction, mental stimulation and physical activity that stems from this program is a valuable part of our clients day and the care provided.
From morning teas, visits to museums, galleries, lunches in the park with word and quizzes to simply enjoying a cup of tea or coffee with the clients; there is no limit to the unrealised opportunities to contribute using your own personal interests and hobbies.
We welcome volunteers who live in Lowood or in the Ipswich area to share, whatever your skills, passions and availability maybe with our clients to help make their day.
Mobile Respite - Activities are based at various locations in and around Lowood and the surrounding area.
The program and the people involved, provide a personal experience that's designed to give clients the opportunity to socialise with others, go to new places.
Volunteers will accompany the bus driver and support clients to travel safely and to enjoy the journey. They will also assist with any preparations for activities and provide support at destinations
Our compassionate team strives to support clients independence by forging real relationships with clients as well as their families/friends.
Health & happiness is the main aim whilst focusing on community well being
Tasks involved include:
Assist with the pick up and drop off of clients
Support clients on the bus
Interacting with clients and providing support in activities and at destinations under the guidance of accompanying staff member

Though not mandatory, it is recommended that volunteers have a valid Flu vaccination (certificate/letter)
Please note that it will take 2-4 weeks for checks to be completed before undertaking induction, orientation to commence in this role
