📄 Currently Recruiting - Beyond Borders - Travel Support Volunteers (Queensland)


This volunteer opportunity will help to enable the people we serve with a disability to participate in small group travel and recreational activities of their choice by providing companionship, personal care and social support.

The role will enhance the experience of the people we serve with a disability by encouraging independence and reducing social isolation.  Our volunteers provide companionship, personal care and social support to encourage independence and to help travellers feel part of a community.  This role is suitable for someone with an awareness of issues affecting the quality of life for people with disabilities and a passion to empower people with disabilities to achieve their travel dreams.

 

Location:

Holiday destinations throughout Queensland 

 

Not able to offer overnight trips? 

That is OK, we have volunteers working across a range of areas of the program: from administration and business development to marketing and graphic design. Get in touch today to discuss what skills you can bring to the team.

 

Tasks involved include:

▪ Accompany travellers on holidays that require overnight stays

▪ Work under the direction of the Holiday Co-ordinator to observe duty-of-care requirements for the individual you’re supporting

▪ Participate in the delivery of any support required in order to help travellers undertake holiday activities

Skills Required:

▪ Well developed interpersonal skills

▪ Experience working with people with a disability advantageous but not necessary.

 

Requirements:

▪ Yellow Card for working at government-funded Community, Disability & Senior or NDIS services, 

▪ A current Senior First Aid Certificate is required.

▪ Well developed interpersonal skills

▪ COVID-19 Vaccination

 

Time Commitment: Minimum time commitment of 10-15 hours occasionally

 

Other Information:

Accommodation, transport, main meals and activity expenses are covered while volunteering.
