 📃 This volunteer opportunity will help to facilitate pre-developed bible study material ‘Renew Your Mind, Renew Your Life’ to inmates in a correctional centre. 
 
You will be working with incarcerated people with a wide range of educational levels, learning abilities, cultural backgrounds, and knowledge of the Christian faith. Many of these people have experienced significant trauma, which can affect them and be displayed in their behaviour in various ways. 
 
Your responsibilities are to display God’s unconditional love as you lead the participants through the Bible Study course. 
 
It is essential you: 
▪️ be well prepared for the sessions, ie a thorough understanding of the lessons for the day; 
▪️ have a sound faith and knowledge of the Bible; 
▪️ are non-judgemental; 
▪️ are a good communicator; 
▪️ follow all rules and instructions by QCS staff; 
▪️ are flexible, as classes can be cancelled at the last moment. 
 
Training will be provided 
 
📍Location: Missions | Prison Ministry, Townsville Correctional Centre  
 
👉🏼 About Us: You will be working in a team of volunteers and have oversight by a UnitingCare Queensland Duty Chaplain. 
 
✅ What you’ll be doing: 
▪️      Facilitate and teach the units of the course. 
▪️      Set up and pack away resources for the classes. 
▪️      Recordkeeping of: attendance; units completed by inmates; certificates issued; stocktaking of resources.

🕑 Times: Wednesday 12:30pm – 2:30pm or Thursday 12:30pm – 4:30pm    
💍 Commitment: Get started from as little as 1-2 hours Weekly 
📅 Days:  Weekdays

 ☑️ Skills and experience important for this role include: 
▪️     Mature Christian faith with good Bible knowledge. 
▪️     Understanding of group dynamics and skills in how to facilitate a group discussion. 
▪️     Comfortable praying in front of others. 
▪️     Completed the course, especially the Modules before teaching them. 
 
☑️ We’ll need to do the following checks before you start: 
▪️      Reference Checks 
▪️      Working with children
