Our Library isn't just about borrowing books as reading offers significant benefits to our residents. Engaging with books acts as a brain workout, strengthening neural connections and keeping the mind agile, which can help age-related cognitive decline, improve focus, reduce stress and offer a place where the imagination has no limits!

 

📍Location: BlueCare | Labrador Gardens Residential Aged Care Facility, 83 Muir Street, Labrador Qld 4215 

 

👉🏼 About Us: Labrador Gardens is modern, purpose built & architecturally designed to provide the best care available to support health and well-being of our residents. To over 160 seniors it is also their home. The ideal volunteer for this role will have great customer service skills and a friendly, helpful approach as they will most often be the first point of contact for library users.

 

 

✅ What you’ll be doing: 

- Catalogue resources, including books, magazines, periodicals, digital material (DVD's, CD's)

- Maintain a database and keep a digital record of resources

- Shelve and organise resources

- Help library users to locate books & use resources effectively

- Assit with selecting new materials for the library

🕑 Times: Flexible during the hours of 9:00 am - 4:00 pm

 

💍 Commitment: Get started from as little as 3 - 4 hours fortnightly 

 

📅 Days: Weekdays 

 

☑️ Skills and experience important for this role include: 

- Great customer service skills ability to communicate with frail aged and older people in ways which are respectful and courteous

- Good listening skills

- Good organisational skills

- Genuinely interested in being there and able to commit to a minimum of a few hours per week on a regular basis.
