Animal Care Transporters

Volunteer drivers play a critical role in transporting our animals to and from local veterinary clinics for their spay and neuter appointments, check ups and  grooming.Volunteer drivers also assist by driving wild animals to rehabilitation centers where they can be cared for by skilled individuals, who can handle and care for them as required. Volunteer drivers are also needed to transfer animal between branches on the Island.

Skills/ Qualifications

  • 19 Years or older, and have a valid driver's license
  • Obtain a clear ICBC drivers abstract for a minimum of five years
  • Comfortable handling a variety of species of animals


  • Prepare animals for Transport, and safely load and unload them form the vehicle
  • Ensure the animal arrives safely and on time for their appointments
  • Ensure the vehicle is stocked with supplies and equipment needed for transport
  • Ensure all paperwork is received by the shelter

Qualifications Required

  • Age range Must be at least 19 years of age or older
  • ICBC Driver's Abstract Must be at least Completed
  • Information Session (or Volunteer Orientation) Must be at least Completed
  • Interview Must be Completed
