 Presentation Tips | Teaching + Learning Lab

APEGA's Fort McMurray Branch seeks enthusiastic volunteers interested in sharing their passion for engineering and geoscience in an evening of fun, hands-on activities and demonstrations for students, teachers and families. This is a great opportunity to foster a love of engineering and geoscience in students, promote your profession in the community, and log Professional Development Hours with APEGA.

Time Commitment 

Approximately 3-hours


Event Dates:

Fort McMurray @ Timberlea Public School | Thursday, October 20th 5:30-8:30pm

Fort McMurray @ Fort McMurray Christian School | Thursday, October 20th 5:30-8:30pm

Fort McMurray @ Father Beauregard School | Wednesday, November 23rd 5:30-8:30pm

Duties & Expectations

Skills and Qualifications

  • Review material before presentation day
  • Arrive prior to event time and assist with general setup at host school
  • Set up your assigned activity/demo station, which will have been developed, shared, and prepared ahead of time
  • Assist students/parents/teachers with the activity and explain the science behind it
  • Assist with cleaning and packing up at the conclusion of the event
  • APEGA Professional Member or M.I.T
  • Comfortable presenting to students
  • Must live or work in Grand Prairie Region
  • Must have own transportation
