The Opportunity

The APEGA Calgary Branch is looking for enthusiastic volunteers interested in sharing their passion for engineering and geoscience in an evening of fun, hands-on activities and demonstrations for students, teachers and families.

The Impact

APEGA’s outreach events, such as Science Nights and Science Olympics are vital pieces of inspiring the next generation of professional engineers, geoscientist and for introducing students to the exciting possibilities of a career in STEM. This event is a great opportunity to foster a love of engineering and geoscience in students, promote your profession in the community, and log Professional Development Hours with APEGA.  

Time Commitment

5:00-8:30pm on event day

  • Earn CPD Credits for time donated
  • Share your passion for Geoscience with parents, students and the general public
  • Expand your professional network
  • Volunteering is your ticket to exclusive APEGA event invites, recognition gifts and long-service awards.

 

  • Review materials before event day
  • Arrive prior to the event start time and assist with general set-up
  • Set up your assigned activity/demo station, which will have been developed, shared, and prepared ahead of time 
  • Assist students/parents/teachers with the activity and explain the science behind it 
  • Assist with cleaning and packing up at the conclusion of the event
