Registration Committee - Subject Matter Experts - Academic Experience (2024)
The Opportunity |
|
In order to ensure that all professional Engineers and Geoscientists in Alberta conduct themselves according to the high-standards of education and practice that are vital for protecting the public and maintaining the reputation of the professions, APEGA’s Board of Examiners carefully reviews all applications for membership. Volunteers on this committee are subject matter experts in their area of practice and are tasked with reviewing the academic records of applicants in their field to ensure the requirements of registration are met by each applicant before registration is approved.

The Impact |
|
When one engineer or geoscientist conducts themselves unprofessionally, or endangers public safety, it threatens the reputation of the professions themselves. Damage to this reputation risks losing the privilege of self-regulation. By ensuring all professional members meet the rigorous standards of practice set by the Association, volunteers on this committee help to both protect the public from unskilled practice, but guarantee the continuation of Engineering and Geoscience as self-regulated professions.
