Bolsa Chica SB - FLOW- Water Quality Testing Volunteers
Join Bolsa Chica State Beach volunteers and the Amigos de Bolsa Chica to help monitor our local waters!
New volunteers will be taught how to:
- monitor water quality for the CA Dept. of Health & learn about salinity – including its importance and how to measure it
- Use a plankton net to take samples from the wetlands & inlet
- Use a refractometer, hydrometer, microscope, and thermometer
- ID species of concern. Learn about harmful algal blooms (HABs), ID common plankton, and learn ecology of plankton
