Caring for Parks

On-going Programs - Youth Engaged in Environmental Stewardship (YEES)

Youth Engaged in Environmental Stewardship (YEES) is an eight session, half-day program that engages youth ages 11 – 14 in place-based nature, science and environmental stewardship projects in Boise parks. Through hands-on STEM based activities, games, discussion and nature journaling, YEES participants will develop an appreciation for the role parks play in supporting healthy communities including providing recreational opportunities, maintaining clean air and water, and providing wildlife habitat.

Each day will include a volunteer project focused on the scientific or ecological concept of the day. Topics include pollinators, water quality, urban forests, wildlife tracking, birds and more.

Applicants with fully completed applications will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. A maximum of 12 participants will be accepted per series, with a minimum of 6 required for the program to take place.

We are offering two, two-week sessions that will take pace Monday - Thursday, 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m., from June 8th - 18th, and July 6th - 16th. There is a $30 program fee per series.

Volunteers must review the City of Boise Volunteer Handbook to participate.
