Open Space - Weed Warriors

Weed Warriors is a program where participants work together to selectively remove invasive plant species, and thus improve the ability for native species to compete with their non-native visitors. When attending a weed-pulling event, please wear sturdy hiking shoes, be prepared for walking on uneven terrain, and pulling some weeds. Garden gloves, appropriate outerwear, and water are recommended for all field activities.

July in Boise marks the beginning of goathead removal season. Most Idahoans have had a personal experience with goatheads or puncturevine (Tribulus terrestris), either in a beloved pet’s foot or a deflated bicycle tire. The City of Boise is teaming up Boise Goathead Festival and Boise Bicycle Project to eradicate the evil goathead from the streets of Boise. We will be picking goatheads at the below locations every Thursday morning from 8-10am. If you would like to join, please sign-up. Goathead picking locations are subject to change. You must sign-up to ensure you will receive the most up-to-date information on the events.
