Ongoing Programs - Wildfire Mitigation Assistants

These community partners will assist the City of Boise wildfire mitigation team with various wildfire mitigation projects. Community partners may assist with multiple project tasks depending upon availability and level of interest. Work may include assisting with project documentation, data gathering, conducting individual home wildfire safety assessments for homeowners, door-hanger and literature drops, building community awareness, attending public education events and writing community assessments for new Firewise USA sites.

The purpose of this volunteer position is to build community awareness of the threat of wildfire and to assist with multi-agency mitigation projects.

While working on specific tasks/projects, community partners may also interact with other mitigation partners, such as the Bureau of Land Management, Southwest Idaho RC&D, Idaho Firewise, Neighborhood Associations, Homeowners’ Associations, etc….

Applicants must be 16 years or older. The schedule varies. Community partners should have experience interacting with the public and be knowledgeable and tactful in their approach. Some shifts may require volunteers to be standing for 1-3 hours without a break.

Qualifications Required

  • Criminal History Background Check Must be Passed
  • Volunteer Handbook Review Must be Complete
  • Volunteer Orientation Must be at least Complete
  • Volunteer Waiver Must be Complete
  • Volunteer's Age Must be at least 16
