Caring for Parks

On-going Programs - Adopt the Greenbelt

The Adopt the Greenbelt Program engages groups in the ongoing care of the Boise River Greenbelt. Participants adopt a 2/3 mile section of the Greenbelt, and visit their section at least once a month to pick up trash, inspect site amenities, and report activity to the Boise Parks & Recreation department. Although the main purpose of the program is to keep the river clean, adopting groups may optionally take on additional projects in their sections. These projects may include wrapping trees to protect them from beaver damage, painting/repairing site amenities, etc.

Participants must be able to make a year long commitment, based on a calendar year. Once accepted into the program, adopting groups are given the option of renewing their adoption for subsequent seasons at the beginning of each year. Participants are recognized along their section via signage/decals, for the duration of their adoption.

Volunteers must review the City of Boise Volunteer Handbook to participate.
