Caring for Parks

Community Science Programs - Bee Watch

Bee Watch is a community based science project that engages volunteers in collecting data about bees across a diverse range of habitat in Boise including parks, open spaces, and pollinator gardens.  Although bees are the most important and efficient pollinators, our current understanding of the types of bees that utilize different habitats is limited.  This project provides an opportunity for volunteers to contribute to global efforts to establish baseline information on population diversity and status of these important insects.  Participants will conduct stationary surveys of bees at bee boxes and surrounding habitat at predetermined sites across Boise.  Photo observations will be uploaded to iNaturalist.
