On-going Programs - Tree Stewards

Tree Stewards

Through a series of classroom and field experiences, Boise Parks and Recreation's Tree Steward Program provides opportunity for citizens to learn about and care for our community's trees. Trained and certified tree care professionals inform participants on how trees grow, how to identify trees, proper planting techniques, pruning basics, and how to diagnose common tree problems.

Upon completing training, participants spend time in the field working with staff and current Tree Stewards to help maintain trees in Boise parks, along the Greenbelt, and along the shady streets of Boise. Work parties take place on Tuesdays and Thursdays and is where the real learning takes place, as you get hands-on experience pruning young trees for health, safety, and aesthetics.

Volunteers must review the City of Boise Volunteer Handbook to participate.
