Open Space - Certified Weed Warrior Training

A variety of non-native, invasive plants (NNIs) are present on City of Boise open space reserves. These plants can take over an area quickly and threaten our native plant and wildlife communities.

Certified Weed Warrior Volunteers help control NNIs on open space reserves through manual management techniques. This work is physical, but it is also very rewarding and can have a significant impact on local ecosystems.

To become a Certified Weed Warrior Volunteer (and be authorized to remove NNIs anywhere on City of Boise property on your own schedule), you will need to complete an in-person training. If you cannot make either of the training times offered, email Martha Brabec (mbrabec@cityofboise.org). She will work with you directly. Training on both dates will be held at the Jim Hall Foothills Learning Center, 3188 N Sunset Peak Place.

You can do not have to attend training to participate in group weed pulls! Training is only required for individuals or groups interested in learning more about weeds and/or in working independently.
