Garden Work Parties (Ages 16+) - Garden Work Party Member

Join our Head Gardeners in the care and maintenance of Surrey's beautiful gardens, Darts Hill Garden Park, The Glades Woodland Garden, and Bear Creek Park. Learn various skills including pruning, weeding, labelling, and more! Everyone is welcome to participate - no experience is required. Tools and training provided. 

Darts Hill Garden Park
Created by Francisca Darts with the dedicated support of her husband Edwin, Darts Hill Garden Park is a showcase of 70 years of devotion, hard work and a pure love of horticulture.

The Glades Woodland Garden Park
The Glades is a stunning woodland garden located in South Surrey. This unique garden contains over 1,600 mature rhododendrons, azaleas, and companion plants.

Bear Creek Park
Bear Creak Park is home to a stunning feature garden with a variety of themed beds.

Clayton Community Centre
Clayton Community Centre hosts three pollinator beds.
    


WHAT WE DO

  • Learn various horticultural skills from our Head Gardeners: pruning, weeding, labelling, and more!
  • Contribute to the care and maintenance of the gardens
  • Learn about the unique and rich history of the gardens
  • Earn volunteer hours, gain hands-on experience working outdoors in a team setting

REQUIREMENTS

  • Ages 16+
  • Comfortable working outdoors with tools
  • Ability to take initiative and direction as required
  • Dress for the weather and wear sturdy shoes

TIME COMMITMENT

Events are usually 1-3 hours long. There are usually two activities per month during the spring, summer, and fall. 

This program is currently only open to registered volunteers (no drop-ins).
