Learn To Skate - Learn To Skate Assistant

Volunteer Opportunities

Volunteer along side our experienced instructors as they teach their students ice safety, balance, and various skating techniques and skills. You will gain knowledge and experience while assisting with participants during lesson activities and games.

Responsibilities

  • Supporting individual students within the class
  • Encouraging skaters
  • Assisting skaters to find their class
  • Getting toys/equipment for the instructor
  • Assisting skaters with their equipment (tying skates, tightening helmets, etc.)

Skills, Experience & Requirements 

  • Strong, confident skating ability
  • Friendly, enthusiastic, patient and welcoming
  • Interested in working with children of all ages

Time Commitment

Volunteers are generally expected to commit to the whole set of lessons, i.e. 10 weekly sessions.

Step #1 – Eligibility Requirements

 

To apply to be a volunteer in the Arenas volunteer program, you must be:

  • 14 years or older
  • Eligible to volunteer in Canada (check your travel documents, if applicable)
  • Strong, confident skating ability

 

 Step #2 – Apply

 

  • Fill in an application
  • Attend an interview
  • Submit 2 references
  • Complete a Police Information Check

 

 Step #3 – Volunteer

 

  • When all the above steps have been completed, you will be contacted by phone or email by an Arenas program administrator

 


This process can take up to 6 weeks so we thank you for your diligence and patience. Once you are eligible to volunteer, log-in to your profile at MyImpactPage.com to search and sign up for volunteer activities, confirm shifts and record your hours of service.
