Teen Library Council 2025-2026 - Semiahmoo/Ocean Park Library

We have six TLCs at City Centre, Clayton-Cloverdale, Fleetwood, Guildford, Newton-Strawberry Hill, and Semiahmoo-Ocean Park. TLC members give back to their community by planning events and advising the library of library services that are meaningful to the teen community.

Requirements 

  • 13–18 years of age
  • A Surrey Libraries card
  • A Police Information Check (PIC)
  • Enjoy working in a team
  • Interest in youth issues in Surrey
  • Interest in library services for teens
  • Reliable and punctual
  • Respectful of others

Commitment

  • Meeting once a month, 2nd Wednesday of every month, from 4-5pm.  Alternating between Semiahmoo and Ocean Park Branches
  • Leading 1 meeting on your own or with other TLC members
  • Additional meetings for program planning if required
  • Attending and leading TLC programs
  • Responding to emails from your TLC supervisor
  • Completion of a Teen Library Council survey

  • Sign up for the opportunity once you have successfully created a profile
  • Submit TWO completed references (not from family or friends)
  • When all the above steps are complete a librarian will be in touch with next steps! They include:
  1. Participate in an interview
  2. Complete a Police Information Check
  3. Attend an orientation
