Surrey Art Gallery Children's Art Program Assistants - About

Children’s Art Program Assistants (CAPA) 
 
Learn about leadership and working with children. Volunteers lead games, organize studios, and assist the artists in studio art programs. This occurs at weekly art classes in the evenings or on the weekends or during week long, all day camps.
 
Responsibilities
• Contribute to a positive learning environment
• Inspire children and assist them with their projects
• Welcome participants and help with course sign-in
• Supervise participants during breaks and activities
• Communicate with the instructor and gallery staff if issues arise or in the case of an emergency
• Provide feedback by completing a program evaluation
• Understand and follow Surrey Art Gallery guidelines
 
Your qualifications
• A passion for art
• Enjoy working with children
• Great communication and people skills
• Enjoy contributing to a team and be able to work independently
• Undergo an RCMP security clearance 
• Are 14 years of age or older and can commit to volunteering about 8 hours per month
