Markham Pan Am Centre - Swim Meet Volunteer - Lifesaving Club of Markham - March 2, 2024

Minimum age for this position is 14 years old

The Lifesaving Club of Markham & The Markham Pan Am Centre are looking for Volunteers & Officials to help out at the Annual Lifesaving Sport March Lifesaving Invitational. 

This event is a provincial swim meet for Junior,  Senior & Masters Lifesaving athletes ages 7-99 to demonstrate their physical skills in a competitive setting.  All events are timed races which use lifesaving equipment such as manikins, fins, throw ropes and underwater obstacles.

To make this event successful, we require volunteers! 

When: Saturday March 2, 2024

Who: Volunteers 
What: Timers, runners, marshalling

Training will be provided for the various positions on site and volunteers will be assigned to a designated lead in their assigned area.


Job Descriptions

Timers: Records the swimmer’s time on provided lane sheets. Each timer is provided a stopwatch and assigned a lane; there are two timers for each lane. This job gives you the best view of the pool and the swimmers during their races.
Experience required - None


Runners: Responsible for obtaining the completed paper work from the timers and judges and delivering to the scoring team. Runners will be on their feet and moving during their assigned shift.
Experience Required - None

Marshalls: Responsible for placing athletes in their appropriate lane and heat and directing them to the start line of the event.   Marshall will be on their feet and moving during their assigned shift.
Experience required - None
