Fair Trade Oxfam Group - Fair Trade Shop Volunteer
PLEASE NOTE: This volunteer position is open all year. We are specifically recruiting now and request a minimum of 3 months commitment.

Position Description:
Formed in June 2007, the Oxfam Group Fair Trade Shop WA is committed to supporting Fair Trade and Oxfam Australia through voluntary work. The focus of the shop and group is the promotion of Fair Trade products and information to the wider community, whilst also raising funds for Oxfam Australia. Group members also attend community events, and in doing so sell Fair Trade products and raise awareness. There are also a range of items which support sustainability, such as Bush skincare products and foods which are enjoyed by our customers.
The Fair Trade Shop is always looking for volunteers motivated to assist with promoting fair trade and selling fair trade merchandise in our retail shop and/or at community events.
If you have spare time during school hours, want to give back and have a positive impact in the community and in the developing world, learn about all things fair trade, meet new people and gain retail experience, we want to hear from you!
We are a not-for-profit group of volunteers, raising and donating funds to Oxfam Australia, raising awareness about Fair Trade principles, consumer habits and our individual impact that can help tackle poverty.
Our fundraising shop is located in Bayswater WA, next to the new train station and is open Tuesday to Saturday from 10am to 3pm and Sunday 10am to 1pm.
Different teams of 2 volunteers run the shop on these days and your commitment could be either weekly or fortnight or on regular set dates, depending on your availability.
Shop duties include sales, customer service, ordering and liaising with suppliers, pricing and shelving/display, attending meetings (once a term), and attending Christmas market stalls. You would be paired with another senior volunteer who would provide guidance and company during your shift.
NO previous retail experience is needed!

- Friendly Outgoing Manner
- Basic Mathematics
- Able to Work Independently
- No previous retail experience required

- Initial training and support
- Retail training
