GALLERY INTERPRETER - Gallery Interpreter

- Cultures of the Ancient Americas
PURPOSE
Provide visitors with a delightful, educational museum experience through interesting and accurate information about the museum
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Greet and aid public, learn and apply interpretive techniques relating to current exhibits, be responsible for getting out, interpreting, and putting away hands on objects
SKILLS, ATTITUDES, KNOWLEDGE
Enjoys talking with people, is interested in natural and cultural history, will be sure to offer accurate information, willing to learn new information and interpretive methods, good customer service skills
RELATIONSHIPS/LIAISONS Will work with museum staff, other volunteers, general public
TIME, COMMITMENT
Minimum of 3 hours per week, weekdays or 6 hours per month on weekends
Tuesday- Saturday 10 am- 1pm or 1pm- 4pm
Sunday 12pm- 4pm

SUCCESS MEASURES
Regular and complete attendance at assigned work shifts
Adherence to requirements and needs of position
Appropriate standards of appearance and dress
Adherence to museum policy regarding public area volunteer performance
TRAINING
Volunteer orientation, customer service training, training with staff or experienced volunteer, attend continuing education training
NOTE
All gallery interpreter volunteers must be fingerprinted
