Habitat for Humanity

Have you ever wondered how families are selected to become partners with Habitat for Humanity to get a home? Would you like to be a part of that process? Volunteers on the Family Selection Committee get to be a part of changing a family's life and seeing them move into a safe, affordable home of their own.

Volunteers on Family Selection Committee go through applications from potential family partners, check references, and join staff on home interviews to meet potential family partners.

Family Selection Committee Members should be long time local residents who have been involved in the community, and who understand the lives and challenges of low income families.

This committee meets weekly during builds, but may go months without meeting until it is time to select new family partners for a new build.

  • Interested volunteers would meet with Habitat staff for an interview.
  • Training is provided for those volunteers selected to join the Family Selection Committee.
