COUNSELLING/MENTORING - Mature Mentors

 

 

 

JOB DESCRIPTION

SuperGrans supports people, encouraging new ways to work, passing on everyday skills needed to provide for oneself or the family.  We support and encourage independence and the ability to cope with problems. Both men and women over 40 years old are welcome with household management and life skills.

SKILLS REQUIRED

  • Good oral and written communication.

  • Efficient household management/budgeting skills, a good organizer.

  • Willing to help and motivate people

  • A people person - non-judgemental, with a mature outlook not fazed by hardship, negativity or disability.

  • Is interested in sharing life skills and meeting others.

  • Sincere, honest, fair, consistent, diplomatic and confidential

LOCATION

Dunedin, Mosgiel areas. Volunteer visits client’s homes.

DAYS AND TIMES REQUIRED

1-4 hours per week as agreed upon by the volunteer and client.

DRESS CODE

Comfortable casual wear depending on the activity.

SUPERVISION AND TRAINING

  • One day initial training is provided (other training requested may be considered.)

  • Volunteers are encouraged to keep in touch with office

  • Networking meetings are held every 3 months for 2 hours.

  • Supervision is set every 6/8 weeks

SPECIAL CONSIDERATIONS

A clean current driver's license is an advantage.

Basic first aid training is provided.

An Interview, 2 Referees and Police vetting are required.
