TEACHING/TUTORING/ASSISTING - Tutor

JOB DESCRIPTION

In the first instance volunteers would be asked to assist current tutors as they help SeniorNet members with computer problems.  Volunteers are also needed to assist senior members in the use of computers, tablets, smart phones and other electronic devices.  It would also be helpful if the volunteer could bring current tutors up to date with new technology by running short courses.

SKILLS REQUIRED
  • A broad knowledge of computer skills
  • Familiarity with various software
  • Confidence and patience in working with older learners (most of SeniorNet’s learners are over 70 years old)

SUPERVISION AND TRAINING

Prospective tutors could observe our tutors in action.  The training would be about teaching methods rather than the technological knowledge.

SPECIAL CONSIDERATIONS

Volunteers are not required to provide referees for this role.
