JOB DESCRIPTION

We'd very much appreciate people joining our community sorting team. Community sorters help to sort and organise baby items that have been donated to us (Items are then provided at no cost to families who need them). Sorting sessions don't take place on a specific day - once or twice a month we'll put the call out (usually via text message) that a sorting session is going to take place, and then if members of the team are available to come along to help it's great, but it's also absolutely fine if they're not available to come along because they have something else on or the time etc doesn't suit. Sessions are typically for approximately an hour and a half (a lot of sorting can get done during that time with a group of people) and will vary between mornings and afternoons (They are week days only though).

SKILLS REQUIRED

Just enthusiasm and a desire to help.

Pregnancy Help premises, South City Mall, Hillside Rd, South Dunedin.

DRESS CODE

Comfortable clothing, suitable for a family-friendly space.

SUPERVISION AND TRAINING

We conduct a brief induction session at the start of each community sorting session.

We provide our health and safety policy and code of conduct to volunteers.

We provide light snacks and bottled water during sorting sessions.

SPECIAL CONSIDERATIONS

Volunteers need to undergo Ministry of Justice criminal record checking.

Whilst we try to be as supportive as we can to people volunteering, there are no disabled access toilets in our building.

It may be suitable for people to bring along a baby or child with them to volunteer - we consider this on a case by case basis and need to consider things like the specific tasks being done during each session and the number of people coming along etc.
