JOB DESCRIPTION

We need someone who is independent and motivated to play the piano in the lounge area of our two hospital units and one secure unit (approximately 1/2 hour per unit). Choice of playing in one unit for the first week, another the following week and another on the third week or play in one unit only. Music to suit aged care - songs from 1940's-1990's popular.

SKILLS REQUIRED

Proficient piano player.Empathetic to aged care.

Respectful, punctual, reliable, honest.

A desire to improve the quality of life for residents living in care.

LOCATION

8 Easther Crescent, Forbury Corner,Dunedin

DAYS AND TIMES REQUIRED

Flexible time and dates. - any day that is suitable with the activity programme and the volunteer. 1/2 hour - 1 hour per visit.

Mondays through to Sundays.

DRESS CODE

Tidy casual dress.

SUPERVISION AND TRAINING

Boundaries/Infection Control and Dementia training is offered. Fire Safety. Quarterly Newsletters. Volunteer functions twice yearly.

Open communication with Volunteer Coordinator.

SPECIAL CONSIDERATIONS

An interview is required and forms to be completed. Two referees required who are over 21years of age, not related and have known the applicant for over one year. A police check required with a clean slate. Out of pocket expenses will be reimbursed (Bus cards are provided if required).
