TEACHING/TUTORING/ASSISTING - Kaiwhakamana
JOB DESCRIPTION |
Department of Corrections is looking for Māori Volunteers (Kaiwhakamana) nominated by an Iwi or National Maori Organisation to visit the prison and help in enabling the wellness and wellbeing of Māori prisoners. The Kaiwhakamana can perform below activities during their visit: • Advise prisoners and whanau(extended family) about whakapapa (genealogy) and tikanga (custom) • Assist prisoners to establish contacts with their iwi (tribe)/hapū (sub-tribe)/whānau (extended family) • Help prisoners with personal, family, relationships and business issues • Provide spiritual/religious support and guidance • Assist prisoners with reintegrate arrangements through their iwi/ hapū/whanau • Provide suggestions and advice to the Minister and Department of Corrections staff on the provision of service to Māori |
SKILLS REQUIRED |
