JOB DESCRIPTION |
Volunteer tour guide to show booked visitors around the former Dunedin Prison and share stories of its past uses and former inmates. Responsible for visitors safety during tours. |
SKILLS REQUIRED |
Ability to learn tour route and the stories for visitors. Ability to relate to others, outgoing nature. Good organisation to control small groups. Need to have good fitness as there are many stairs. Possibly some money management. |
SKILLS THAT CAN BE GAINED FROM THIS ROLE |
Personal development, confidence, interaction with visitors, learning about the Prison history. |
LOCATION |
Former Dunedin Prison located at 2 Castle Street, Dunedin |
DAYS AND TIMES REQUIRED |
On a roster with other guides but usually on a Saturday morning between 10am and 12 noon. On other occasions when special group bookings are arranged. |

Tidy casual |
SUPERVISION AND TRAINING |
Full training provided by the Tours manager for suitable candidates |
SPECIAL CONSIDERATIONS |
Volunteer candidates will be assessed for suitability prior to selection. |
