VISITOR/COMPANION - Visiting Volunteer to an Elderly Person

JOB DESCRIPTION

Visiting an older person in the community to build rapport and friendship. Also to maintain the persons contact with the wider community and to help
prevent social isolation.  The volunteer  may visit to chat, share in an interest or hobby, or take them out for a coffee/drive.

SKILLS REQUIRED
A genuine interest in and respect for older people
Reliable and trustworthy
Good listener
Patience and compassion
Sense of humour

LOCATION

In the client’s home. Our endeavour is to have volunteers working within their local area

DAYS AND TIMES REQUIRED

1-2 hours per week

DRESS CODE

Casual - neat and tidy

SUPERVISION AND TRAINING

All volunteers are interviewed, have two referee checks and are Police vetted.

SPECIAL CONSIDERATIONS
If offering to drive their clients, the volunteers must have a reliable roadworthy car, a full and current license, and be a safe driver.
Reimbursement is available for client-based travel.
