VISITOR/COMPANION - Volunteer Visitor

JOB DESCRIPTION

Age Concern is asking for volunteers who would like to volunteer some time to the Accredited Visiting Service. This service is for socially isolated older people who would benefit from a regular visitor each week, to provide friendship and companionship.

SKILLS REQUIRED

The volunteer needs to be 18 years and over.

A NZ citizen or have permanent residency.

They would need to be available for at least 6 months.

Age Concern provides basic training and orientation as well as a police check.

LOCATION

Dunedin and surrounding areas, as far as Palmerston and Balclutha. The visiting takes place in the clients home

DAYS AND TIMES REQUIRED

Anytime and one hour per week

DRESS CODE

Tidy, comfortable clothing.

SUPERVISION AND TRAINING

Initial interview process with training and orientation. Ongoing support, via meetings, emails, phone calls and newsletters.
