ENVIRONMENTAL IMPROVEMENT - Weed Control Volunteer
JOB DESCRIPTION |
One of the key threats to the health and function of the wetlands eco-system is exotic weeds. Grey and Crack willow are under constant control at Te Nohoaka o Tukiauau / Sinclair Wetlands as are other weeds like gorse, broom, glyceria and grasses. We use a range of control methods; hand pulling, hand tools, mechanical, and spot spraying |
SKILLS REQUIRED |
Volunteers need to be comfortable in the outdoors. Whilst experience isn't essential for all weed control tasks, to handle chemicals a growsafe 'approved handlers' certificate would be required. (for the right candidate this may be something we can help with) |
