JOB DESCRIPTION

This role requires a volunteer with a Driver's Licence (we will supply the vehicle) to drive a small group of clients (between 1 and 5) to community

activities such as for example - fitness groups, walking groups, arts or crafts groups, dog walking etc. and accompany them throughout the activity before dropping them back at our premises in South Dunedin. Any costs to take part in the activities will be paid for by Able organization.

SKILLS REQUIRED

Volunteers must have a current Driver’s licence and ‘people skills’

LOCATION

Within the confines of the Dunedin area.

Initially starting off and finishing from our premises in St Kilda

DAYS AND TIMES REQUIRED

These activities take place at different times and days between 9:00 am and 3:00 pm from Monday to Friday.

SUPERVISION AND TRAINING

We will have a one to one meeting with the volunteer to explain a little about our organization and what we do as well as about the volunteer position.

We provide orientation and would accompany the volunteer for the first two or three times to the activity or until they feel comfortable doing it alone.

We also accompany them on an initial drive of the car so they feel  comfortable driving our vehicle.

We offer support and encouragement by being readily available to answer questions or listen to any concerns they may have.

SPECIAL CONSIDERATIONS

Volunteers are required to be interviewed and police vetted. We only reimburse or pay up front for the cost of the activity in the community that Volunteer attends.
