JOB DESCRIPTION

Project Assistant

Lone SCOUTS was set up in the 1970’s for youth who lived in the rural areas and could not access a local Scout group, but has not been utilised for many years and is out of date.  Demand indicates that this programme needs to be refreshed and adapted to utilise IT and Communities to support scouts who cannot travel to a local group.  This role requires someone to review the previous programme, look at the current programmes being run at Scout groups, good practice from overseas and help to develop a programme that will work for these youth in this Region and ultimately Nationally in line with what the normal Scout Groups and SCOUT model is.

SKILLS REQUIRED

Attention to detail, willing attitude, good telephone and general manner, use of Microsoft office programmes, confident in online research, collation of information – hard and soft copies, be analytical and creative.

LOCATION

SCOUTS NZ Regional Office in Filluel Street

DAYS AND TIMES REQUIRED

As suits both parties from 3 hours per day over 2 weeks, to blocks of full days to longer commitment. Must be consistent though.

DRESS CODE

Smart Casual - if attending Scout Events/Scout Groups black jeans/pants would be required

SUPERVISION AND TRAINING

Initiative is important as although guidance, supervision and support available we would want these tasks completed with minimal supervision

SPECIAL CONSIDERATIONS

Need to have a good sense of humour, be able to work unsupervised, as part of a team and interact with others both face to face and on the phone.  Dependant on timing this person may be working alongside and under the supervision of a Social Work Intern on a fixed 3 month placement with Scouts .
