Animal Care - Volunteer Opportunities Involving Horses

 

JOB DESCRIPTION

Vanora are looking for volunteers! Our main volunteer role would be to spend time with the herd, help look after them and tend to their day to day needs, this involves: feeding, mucking paddock/ paddock maintenance and brushing horses etc. This shift will be about 1 hour long (or more hours if people wish), and people committing to at least once a week on a regular basis.

We would also be grateful for people who to wish to help with fundraising/ promoting the organisation. Also open to other possibilities of people wanting support us and our cause- Get in touch and have a chat to us.

SKILLS REQUIRED

Ideally some horse/ herd experience- however we are happy to teach people also. This is a fairly physical role (mucking the paddock with wheelbarrow, feeding hay etc) so a level of fitness is necessary and no severe physical pain.

LOCATION

Waikouaiti, Otago

DAYS AND TIMES REQUIRED

We would like people to do shifts between 9 to 10:30 am during the week

DRESS CODE

The work is outside- so please dress for the weather. Ideally gum-boots or outdoor shoes.

SUPERVISION AND TRAINING

We will do an induction and provide on-going support for volunteers.

SPECIAL CONSIDERATIONS

As Vanora is a therapeutic space we will require volunteers to do Police vetting and sign our volunteer contract. Interviews will also be conducted.
