Special Event or Field Trip - School Forest Overnight Chaperones - Rib Mt 5th grade
We are seeking Parent & Family Volunteers to be overnight School Forest Chaperones. New state statutes from the 2023/24 school year require that a background checked adult be present for any overnight programs. In order to keep this unique experience going for our 5th graders, we are recruiting approved volunteers.
Volunteer Chaperones are needed for the overnight portion of the School Forest stay. Cabins are assigned by gender with 5-10 students in each cabin and a High School Student Teaching Assistant.
You will arrive in the evening as students are prepping for bed and stay in a cabin with them and a high school age teaching assistant.
You'll supervise during wake up and while students are getting ready for the day, departing around 7:30am.
Volunteers are responsible for student safety, enforcing rules and quiet hours, and communicating with teachers and staff. Get a refresher on volunteer protocol and expectations here: Volunteer Handbook.
Female volunteers are required in females’ cabins and males required for males’ cabins. All qualified volunteers may sign up here and teachers will finalize the roster and details with volunteers as specific numbers of male and female volunteers are needed to meet the statutory requirements.
We are in need of female and male volunteers for each night.
Volunteers are responsible for their own transportation.
Dates: Monday, February 2 and Tuesday, February 3
Hours: 8:30pm to 7:30am
