Knit a bear and turn your leftover wool into a symbol of care and hope for those impacted and bereaved by suicide.
This volunteer opportunity will help provide knitted bears for StandBy’s outreach teams to use when supporting people left behind following a suicide, reminding them that they are not alone.

StandBy supports anyone impacted or bereaved by suicide. Those left behind following a suicide can experience trauma and grief. They may also feel isolated and alone. Those impacted are given knitted bears and told that they are knitted by community members who care. They are a symbol that there are people, like you, that care.
📍 Location: Volunteer from home!
StandBy has collection points for knitted bears at UnitingCare offices across Queensland in Nundah, Ipswich, Maroochydore, Gympie, Hervey Bay, Rockhampton, Mackay, Townsville and Cairns.
✅ What you’ll be doing:
▪️ Knit & stuff bears
▪️ Follow the provided pattern and instructions
▪️ Deliver bears to a StandBy centre
