📃 This volunteer opportunity will help to elevate our music program to new heights by teaching and inspiring individuals to build confidence, learn new musical skills, and improve their social connections. Your passion for music will contribute to the growth and self-esteem of participants, helping them work towards their first group performance! 

 

👉🏼 About Us: UnitingCare's Haven has been offering a music program for a few years, where participants enjoy jamming along to a playlist with instruments. We aim to enhance this program by focusing on skill-building, self-confidence, and social interaction. While the lead practitioner coordinates logistics, and the lead support worker runs the sessions, your musical expertise will add a new dimension to this experience. Haven is a community service program dedicated to supporting individuals and creating opportunities for growth. 

 

✅ What you’ll be doing: 

▪️ Assist with setting up and packing down music equipment and room 

▪️ Welcome attendees and facilitate ice-breaking activities 

▪️ Choose songs and introduce new music techniques to engage participants 

▪️ Help participants learn and develop new musical skills 

▪️ Work with the lead practitioner to prepare resources and lesson plans 

▪️ Occasionally lead sessions if a support worker is unavailable 

▪️ Contribute to the group's preparation for their first musical performance 

 

☑️ Skills and experience important for this role include: 

▪️ A passion for music and sharing it with others 

▪️ Ability to play one or more musical instruments is advantageous 

▪️ Patience, enthusiasm, and an encouraging attitude 

▪️ Experience working with groups or facilitating activities is helpful 

▪️ No formal qualifications required, just a willingness to share your love of music and inspire others

☑️ Requirements of this role include: 

        ▪️ Experience with facilitating or teaching music - no qualifications needed but if you have teaching skills that would be beneficial.
