Council Applications - APEGA Council Applications (2027 Term)

To effectively fulfil its governance responsibilities, APEGA Council must collectively possess a robust set of knowledge, skills, and experience. Individuals serving on council bring their own diverse competencies and perspectives that complement those of other councillors, and ensure council is well rounded and capable.

 

APEGA welcomes applications from registrants who are interested in serving on council. APEGA also welcomes applications from previous Councilors who wish to serve as a member of the executive.

 

Council Recruitment Priorities

Each year, APEGA conducts a gap analysis to identify the competencies that are recruitment priorities for the upcoming application cycle. For the 2027 election, the competencies listed below are being particularly sought. Applicants should have strength in at least one of the following:

  • *Governance Experience
  • *Strategic Mindset
  • *Regulatory Understanding
  • Risk Oversight
  • Leadership Skills
  • Visionary Aptitude

*Of particular importance to Councillor Applicants.

 

Eligibility

 

Time Commitment

  • Must not have been a full- or part-time employee of APEGA within the past three years
  • Must be an APEGA member in Good Standing
  • Must hold one of the following Designations:
      • P. Eng., P. Geo., P. Geol., P. Geoph.
      • Life Member
      • Professional Licensee
  • Must have previously served on APEGA Council to serve as a member of the executive.

Applicants must commit to:

  • a three-year term, commencing April 2027, at the APEGA annual general meeting
  • approximately 40 days per year, made up of:
    • four quarterly council meetings, each two or three days in length, scheduled in advance and held in person in Edmonton and Calgary
    • an annual strategic planning retreat, held in person over two or three days
    • other meetings for committee work (primarily held virtually)
    • meetings with constituent and national associations, government officials, and APEGA registrants

 

Steps for Application

Applicants must complete all required fields in the Better Impact application form accessible by clicking Fill in an Application at the top of this page.

 

As part of the application, applicants will be required to upload a 2-page or shorter resume (content longer than 2-pages will not be considered).

 

This information will be reviewed by the Nominating Committee, in redacted form, and will be used to determine shortlisted applicants.

 

To save your application and return to it later, simply click the "Submit" button. You will be able to return to edit or expand upon the submitted information by revisiting the application form up until the deadline. A link will be provided in your confirmation email so you can easily revisit the form.

 

Once the deadline has passed, no further edits to your application will be accepted.
