Purpose (why we are doing this)

Desired outcomes:

To assist park/trail staff with providing interpretive services for park/trail visitors.

Impact this position will have:

To provide educational programs, services and/or materials to help park visitors develop a better understanding of the natural and cultural resources of this park/trail and of the management practices and tools used to protect these resources.

Responsibilities (duties and tasks)

Authorized work:

• To provide excellent customer service to visitors at our state parks and trails.
• Lead naturalist program activities such as hikes, talks, walks, campfire programs and roving interpretation.

Restricted work:

The duties assigned to this volunteer position are laid out above. Tasks pertaining to other programs and projects at this park/trail or any other park or trail unit must be agreed upon in a separate Volunteer Agreement form.

Qualifications Desired (education, skill, experience)

• For volunteers leading programs, experience working with youth and adult audiences is preferred.
• Repeat volunteers are encouraged to participate in the annual statewide naturalist training offered each May.
• Repeat volunteers are encouraged to consider participating in the Minnesota Master Naturalist volunteer training for the biome in which this park/trail is located.
